150th Anniversary of the first British Pillar Box

manufactured and erected in St Helier, Jersey in 1852 at the suggestion of Anthony Trollope, Post Office Surveyor and Novelist. Now - in 2002 - two of the original seven 'Vaudin' postboxes have survived. One is in store at the National Postal Museum, but the other is still in use at Union Street, Peter Port, Guernsey
