This 1,200 ton crane was assembled in Church Street to swing a 5 ton footbridge into position over the town wall and across part of the town centre. In doing so, tens of thousands of gallons of water gushed from two cracked mains pipes when a hydraulic leg of the crane broke the road surface. November 1989
